The foundation stone for Rosehall Church was laid by Duncan McLaren MP in October 1879 and the church was opened in December 1880. The cost was £8675 and there was seating for 650. The architects were Sutherland and Russell and built in an Italian Romanesque style. The church is a excellent example of the United Presbyterian Church's determination to show its own denominational architectural style.
In 1921, stained glass windows were given to the church by Sir John Cowan.
Rosehall Church united with Prestonfield Church in 1974 with the Rosehall building being chosen as the home for the newly united congregation.
The church was renovated in 1980 in its centenary year.
The building continues to be used today as the Newington Trinity Hub and is home to numerous church and local groups.
Rosehall United Presbyterian Church became Rosehall United Free Church in 1900, Rosehall Church of Scotland in 1929 and Priestfield Church in 1974.
